June 19, 2000: Steve Wozniak Inducted Into Inventing Hall of Fame
The accolades Steve Wozniak deserves will never be matched by the accolades he actually receives. That doesn't mean he will be omitted from the history books like the inventor of the wheel or the first guy to build a fire, just that his influence is easily underestimated.
One richly deserved honor Steve did receive was an induction into the Inventors Hall of Fame. Ostensibly, it was for the Apple I, Apple II and Steve's contributions to the Mac. In reality, no one would remember the Apple I if it weren't for the Apple II and Steve's contributions to the Mac were generally of an "atta boy" nature rather than significant technological advances.
Steve Wozniak got one of many richly deserved honors this week in June of 2000.
Comments
Regarding Woz’s contributions to the Mac, I recently learned that Woz invented ADB - the connector that used to be used to attach mice and keyboards to Mac systems up until the iMac was shipped and it was replaced with USB.
While ADB was originally deployed with the Apple II line, I’d say it was an important enough contribution to the Mac to be far more than “atta boy”.
The blog was absolutely fantastic! Lots of great information
