November 11, 2001: iPod Goes on Sale
What is white, has a click wheel, worked only with a Mac and caused massive amounts of drool? The iPod of course.
The techno lust for the FireWire-based, Mac-compatible device started the day the iPod was announced, but like Christmas, yearning for the device didn't make the actual ship arrive any earlier.
The first day you could actually purchase an iPod was November 11, 2001. Good luck with that plan though; the original iPod generated a huge backlog of orders.
