October 7, 1983: Mac Introduction Plan Finalized

The creators of the Mac weren't only obsessed with making a revolutionary computer, they wanted commercial success as well.

The Mac Introduction Plan covered a wide variety of topics including everything from the packaging to IBM attack responses, and was remarkably prescient in some ways, but completely wrong in other areas.

One thing the Mac team was relying on heavily was the rub rom Lisa. The introduction plan touted the fact that the Mac shared technology with the Lisa. The common technology was seen as a way to fend off criticisms by IBM and a way to make the Mac seem more functional than the IBM PC. Of course, Apple had no idea that the Mac would make the already faltering Lisa obsolete.

The Mac Introduction Plan was revealed on this day in 1983.
