September 5, 2002: Second Series of Switch Ads Announced
Apple's big push back into public consciousness, after years of foundering in near obscurity, were its Switch Ads, which featured actual Mac users explaining why they switched from the PC to the Mac.
The first series of ads were memorable and well received in general, so Apple had another batch created featuring a veterinarian, a transportation company owner, a computer professional and a few students. Got to have the students.
The ads ran during the US Open tennis tournament as well as on a few of the major networks and some major cable channels. The full motion ads were accompanied by a blanket of print ads appearing in the hipper magazines. Apple announced the second series of ads this day in 2002.
