MacBook Pro
Introduced: January 2006
Terminated: May 2006
Description
The MacBook Pro was Apple’s new professional-level laptop. It was the first portable from Mac to use the Intel processor. The case, like the PowerBook, was aluminum, but it was somewhat thinner. It had a built in iSight camera and an Apple Remote. The screen was now a wide-screen. There were two configurations, both 15.4” wide. The 1.83Ghz configuration had an 80Gb hard drive and the 2.0Ghz configuration had a 100Ghz hard drive.
History
The first portable Mac to take advantage of the new Intel processors, the MacBook Pro replaced the long-lived PowerBook line. Although there were a number of enhancements, there were also some omissions in this professional laptop-there was no FireWire 800 or s-video.
